Thank You, Lord!

Psalm 136:1

“O give thanks unto the LORD;

for he is good:

for his mercy endureth for ever.”

What are you thankful to the Lord for today? Everyone here has so much to be thankful for that we could spend hours expressing the things that we have been blessed with by the goodness of God shown to us. Last Monday at the service we are blessed to host at the LaGrande Post-Acute Health and Rehabilitation we were looking at Psalm 95. As we shared things we were thankful for during the service, the list became quite lengthy. On Wednesday, I was with several from the Law Enforcement community and I shared from Philippians 1 expressing our prayers of thankfulness for them and for their service in our communities. Later that day, I had the privilege to be with five high school students at Imbler for Prayer and Pizza and I shared my thankfulness for the opportunity to pray with them and share Scripture with them each week as they keep coming to take part. Last Sunday, we had some challenges in gathering in the Lord’s house, but we were thankful for the sunlight coming through the clouds, for those that cleared the snow before we arrived, and for the power when it finally did come back on. I was thankful for all that came and persevered even though it was not convenient. This week the sun rose and set each day just as it has from the beginning of time, and I doubt any of us fretted over if it would or not. God is faithful all the time and we see the evidence of it in His creation. Just as winter is arriving right now in these late autumn weeks, so too will spring be coming; each day we are one day closer to spring as Bro. Volle reminds us of regularly in anticipation. Just as the leaves fall, so too will they come again. Just as the flowers fade, they will bloom once again. We all have bad days, but we all have good days as well. Even in the worst of days, as the child of God, we are never alone; the Lord will never leave us nor forsake us. God is good all the time and His eternal mercy is extended to all who will receive it. I am sad when I hear people who are doubting the goodness of God because of the circumstances of life. Satan loves to get our attention off of the truth and reality of the unchanging God and focus our perspective on our ever-changing circumstances in this temporal life. When life gets us down, we can read Psalm 136 and get our focus on the goodness of God and give thanks unto the LORD, for He is good: for His mercy endureth for ever.
