History

Summerville Baptist Church had its start as a Vacation Bible School in 1951, with two ladies with a burden for the rural community. Many souls were saved. That Bible School continued as a Sunday School and later morning services were added with preaching by Doyle Wilson. As souls continued to be saved, the Summerville First Baptist Church was organized September 29, 1955.
We praise God for all He has done in and through this church in the past. In the early stages of the church, the services were held in a tent. Later, the center building, fellowship hall now, was built and used for the auditorium for many years. In 1997, God used the sacrifice of His people at Summerville Baptist Church to build this present auditorium. We are grateful for the past, but are pressing on into the future of God’s plans for this body of believers.
