WED: “A TRUE WITNESS HELPS PEOPLE BE FORGIVEN OF THEIR SINS”

TEXT: Mark 2:1-12  Matthew 9:1-8, Luke 5:17-26
Introduction: Series Theme Scripture Proverbs 11:30-31
I. Don’t miss the individual because of the crowd (vv. 1-4)
A. When we look at the masses of people in need it can be overwhelming
1. Jesus ministered to masses of people, but never lost sight of individuals
2. Jesus had crowds seeking Him, but He also took time for one person
3. Jesus always spoke truth to individuals even in a crowd of people (Matthew 9:20-22)

B. The greatness of needs can make us miss the difference we can make
C. We don’t need to let obstacles keep us from making a difference
1. Jesus saw the evidence of their faith in Him to heal their friend
2. Jesus took time to honor their faith in Him by healing their friend
3. Jesus did not let the obstacle of the Pharisees and critics keep Him from ministry

II. A true witness truly sees the people they are witnessing to (vv. 5-8)
A. Jesus saw the evidence of their faith in Him
B. Jesus spoke to the greatest need of each person
C. Jesus spoke to the issues of the heart as the greatest needs
1. Relationship with God by forgiveness of sins is the greatest heart need
2. Receiving Jesus as Messiah and Saviour is an issue of the heart
3. Rejecting to trust in Jesus for who He truly is, is also an issue of the heart

III. A true witness speaks truth clearly to help others understand (vv. 9-12)
A. Jesus wanted everyone to be clear about the authority He had as God
B. Jesus wanted everyone to be clear about knowing who He was as God
1. He wanted the religious lost leaders to know with conviction
2. He wanted the believing common person to know with confidence
3. He wanted the needy man and his friends to know with confirmation
C. Jesus wanted everyone to be clear about the power He had as God
