TEXT:  Revelation 2:1-7
Introduction: Psalm 51:1
* As lost people, we need to experience the lovingkindness of God for us in His mercy to forgive us of our sinfulness
* As children of God, we often need to renew our enjoyment of and experience of the love God has for us as His children when we allow ourselves to become distracted or distant in our intimacy with our Heavenly Father
Revelation 2:1
* Jesus is the one who is talking to John and telling him what to write down.
* The subject of the entire revelation is Jesus Christ. (Rev. 1:1-5)
* Jesus is the One holding the stars of the churches. (Rev. 1:10-16)
* Jesus is the One in the midst of the churches. (Rev. 1:12-13, 17-20)

I. The praise declared (vv. 2-3)
A. God knows everything about our service (vv. 2a, 3b)
B. God knows everything about our consistency (vv. 2b, 3a)
C. God knows everything about our integrity and justice (v. 2c)
D. God knows everything about our motives (v. 3b)
E. God knows everything about our faithfulness (v. 3c)

II. The problem disclosed (v. 4)
A. With all that is good nevertheless there is something lacking
B. With all that you are doing well there is a problem that needs to be fixed
C. With all that is right there is one thing wrong that is the root of all that is wrong

III. The prescription delivered (vv. 5-6)
A. Remember
B. Repent
C. Return
D. Restore (v. 6)

E. Revival
1. Keeping up with doing what is right
2. Fixing up that which was done wrong
3. Moving forward to God’s glory on earth more

IV. The promise determined (v. 7)
A. The promise is given from the Spirit to the churches
B. The promise is given to them that overcome by Jesus Christ
C. The promise is given in eternity in the presence of God
