TEXT:  Psalm 36

I. An observation about the wickedness of sinners (vv. 1-4)
A. No respectful reverence of God in their perspective (v. 1)
B. No objective understanding of self or sinfulness (v. 2a)
C. No righteousness of God influencing vocabulary (v. 2b)
D. No wisdom from God guiding behaviors (vv. 3b-4a)
E. No disdain of evil in living life (v. 4c)

II. An acknowledgment of the glory of God (vv. 5-10)
A. The great goodness of God declared (vv. 5-7a)
1. God’s mercy is in the heavens (v. 5a)
2. God’s faithfulness reaches to the clouds (v. 5b)
3. God’s righteous is great like mountains (v. 6a)
4. God’s judgements are a great deep (v. 6b)
5. God’s preservation of His creation is complete (v. 6c; Job 40:15-24)
6. God’s lovingkindness is most excellent (v. 7a)
B. The glorious benefit of man’s response (vv. 7b-9)
1. We trust in His protection (v. 7b)
2. We are satisfied with His blessings in His house (v. 8a)
3. We can enjoy God’s pleasures with Him (v. 8b)
4. We can experience His eternal life with Him in our life (v. 9a)
5. We can experience happiness in His clarity guiding us in life (v. 9b)
C. The grateful request of those who know God (v. 10)
1. Continue thy lovingkindness to those who know thee
2. Continue thy righteousness to those who are right with thee

III. An expression of dependency on God (vv. 11-12)
A. Asking God to keep pride from coming against him (v. 11a)
B. Asking God to keep the wicked from defeating him (v. 11b)
C. Asking God to keep sinfulness of sinners from succeeding (v. 12)
