1. Find the satisfaction in learning from other’s mistakes  Ecclesiastes 1:1-3
   1. Learn from those who have lived longer than you have
   2. Learn from experiences others have already had
   3. Learn from the emptiness experienced by others
2. Life lived without purpose can be endless monotony    Ecclesiastes 1:4-11
   1. There is more to this life than living & dying
   2. There is more to this life than living day by day
   3. There is nothing more frustrating than having no purpose
   4. There is nothing emptier than not making a difference
3. Live lived independent of God is most empty    Ecclesiastes 1:13-18
   1. Earthly wisdom instead of heavenly wisdom     James 3:13-18
   2. Our own ability & understanding doesn’t compare to God’s     Proverbs 8:1-2; 28:26;  Jeremiah 17:5
   3. There is no end to the emptiness of live lived in the flesh     I John 2:15-17
