AM: “‘I AM’ IS THE SON OF GOD”

TEXT:  John 10:22-39
Introduction: John 10:22-23
I. We choose to believe what we believe (vv. 22-26)
A. God’s Word makes things as clear as we allow it to be (vv. 22-24)
B. We confuse things by what we allow to influence our mind (v. 25)
C. We make it hard to hear truth when we listen to lies (v. 26)
II. Jesus came to give eternal life to all who would truly follow Him (vv. 27-30)
A. We must first be willing to hear His voice (v. 27a)
B. We must also be willing to know Him personally (v. 27b)
C. We must then be willing to follow Him (vv. 27c)
D. We must then be willing to believe what He says (vv. 28-30)
1. He gives us eternal life; we do not take it or make it
2. He keeps us from ever perishing; we do not keep us that way
3. He protects us from anyone taking us away from Him we do not do that
4. His Father also protects us as His children forever in His family
5. He promises that we are doubly eternally secure in Him as our Saviour  (Colossians 3:1-4)

III. Truth appears to be untruth when we are deceived by untruth (vv. 31-39)
A. God’s truth is divisive due to how it is perceived (vv. 31-33)
B. Jesus is the ultimate representative of God the Father (vv. 34-36; Psalm 82.  Exodus 4:14-16; 7:1; 22:28; Psalm 138:1; II Corinthians 5:18-20)
C. We decide what we will believe (vv. 37-39)
1. By what we listen to
2. By what we let influence our thinking
3. By what we desire to have in our life
4. By what we allow to deceive us (John 3:12; 5:38; 5:47; 8:24; 10:26; 10:38)

      • How are you letting yourself be influenced by things that are hindering you spiritually?
      • What in your life is making it hard for you to more fully follow Jesus personally?
      • How do you see your life being in this world as a representative on God to the lost?
