TEXT: JOHN 4:3-45
I. A True Witness needs to go to those in need (vv. 3-8)
- Jesus needed to go through Samaria (vv. 3-6)
- Availability is the first required ability to witness
- Waiting is often necessary in being a witness
- Engaging a person is essential to being a true witness
- This woman needed Jesus to go through Samaria (v. 7)
- The people of Sychar needed Jesus to go through Samaria (vv. 28-45)
II. A True Witness uses small talk to open up to eternal talk (vv. 9-15)
- Thirsting for water is small talk (v. 9)
- Quenching spiritual thirst is eternal talk (vv. 10-13)
- Receiving everlasting life is the key to solving the eternal problem (vv. 14-15)
III. A True Witness helps people see their sinfulness (vv. 16-19)
- By asking questions, not making accusations (v. 16)
- By letting them acknowledge their own sin, not saying it for them (v. 17)
- By guiding the conversation, not monopolizing it (vv. 18-19)
IV. A True Witness points people to the who of true worship (vv. 20-26)
- Knowing the God of true worship as Father (vv. 20-21)
- Knowing that you are a true worshipper in truth (vv. 22-23)
- Knowing the true key to truly worshipping in truth (vv. 24-26)
