This is our national motto, but there are efforts to change that. Sadly, we have many in our nation that are not under God. I think the election for the Democratic nominee for mayor in New York City this past week is evident of that very fact. No matter how hard the leftist liberals and anti-God citizens against religion groups try to discount, ignore, and rewrite our nations foundations; the fact is that many of our founding fathers were God fearing and even Christian men. Although I do think having a national religion is not the solution because it has always been a problem of corruption throughout history, I do fully agree with the statement of God in Proverbs 29:2. When our leaders honor God and seek God for their decision making, the citizens are far better off than when they do not. There are many examples in Scripture of leaders who turned away from God and led their citizens to follow them in turning away from God. When this happens, a few faithful to the Lord must continue being faithful to the Lord even though they are in the minority. God will bless His faithful remnant and often God uses that faithful remnant to be the spark to ignite a revival back to God in the other citizens. Revival is the best solution to the ills of our nation, our communities, and our states. The best thing we can do for our nation is to be a good citizen in our nation, our state, and our community. We need to walk with God in our own life. We need to pray for our leaders, pray for revival, and pray against the evil in our society. We need to seek the Lord in how we vote and we need to speak the truth of God’s Word to our leaders. We need to be a witness to others so they can trust Christ and follow Him as a citizen in this nation. This week is the birthday of our nation, also known as Independence Day, and our nation needs godly citizens to help it be godly. We need godly people influencing our leaders and being willing to become leaders. I want to encourage each of us to be the godly citizen that God wants us to be.
