Today we have several special aspects of our services for which I am thankful. This month is the last month of summer and most of our students will be heading back to school. Today is Back to School Sunday so we are going to be praying over our students and teachers for their new school year. In our church, we have students and teachers from many different school districts in our valley as well as many homeschool families. Education is critical to the wellbeing of a society and that is true for a church as well. The Bible class teachers in our church ministry are an important part of the effectiveness of the Lord’s church here. To offer the Bible classes for different ages of children and for adults in various stages of life requires people who are gifted to teach and willing to devote time to preparing to invest in the lives of others. I am thankful for each of our Bible class teachers and workers who help us serve those who take part in the education ministry of our church family. Education is also vital in our community and we need to pray for our students, teachers, administrators, and school board members to have a safe and successful school year. We need to pray for teachers to teach effectively the basics of education and not indoctrinate students with the woke agenda of our state leaders. We need students to listen and learn in order to grow and mature into well-functioning adults for the future of our families and communities. We need to pray for the ministries we have in the various schools here in the north end of our valley. Please pray for God to work through the Prayer & Pizza ministry in Imbler and Elgin High Schools this year to bring students to faith in Christ as Saviour and to grow in their faith in Christ. Also pray the same for the After-school Bible Clubs for the elementary school students in Imbler and Elgin to be used greatly by God this school year. We also have guests with us today that we are praying for and will be blessed by. Missionary Jed Warren and his family are here this morning to share about their ministry. God has called them to serve in a very unique ministry of reaching sailors in seaports with the Gospel. I am excited for us to hear about this ministry and meet this wonderful family. This evening we will be blessed by a message from Pastor Mike who is home on vacation. Michael and Kimberly serve in West Virginia in youth ministry and we are glad to have them and their boys here with us this week. He grew up here and served here in his teen years and now he and Kimberly have a wonderful ministry in a wonderful church. We are thankful for what God has done in His church here at Summerville, all He is currently doing, and all that He has planned in the days ahead as we move forward in His work on earth from this place.
