Loving One Another Practically

God has much to say to us in His Word in regards to this vital truth of loving one another. If you were to do a word study on the phrase “one another” you would find some very interesting truths in Scripture of how God wants us to relate to each other for His glory. Sadly, too many Christians are woefully failing in regards to their attitude and actions towards their fellow man in regards to what God says in His Word. Far too many Christian couples do not even treat each other with the biblical respect we are to be showing merely our fellow man not to mention our spouse. The “one another” commands and admonitions of God in His Word are not isolated to specific “one another” people but rather to all other people beyond yourself. Your neighbor is your fellow man regardless of who they are or where they are. Another person is anyone other than yourself. Too many Christians do not even follow the basic command we looked at last week in Luke 6 that is often referred to as the “Golden Rule” where we are told to treat others how we want others to treat us. Far too often we as humans do not treat others the way we want others to treat us. The reality is that we often practice a double standard in our dealings with others. We expect people to respect us when we do not respect them. We expect people to speak kindly to us but we speak unkindly to them. We expect people to be helpful to us but we are unwilling to be helpful to them. We expect to get what we are unwilling to give and that is just down right hypocritical. If we would truly practice the “Golden Rule” and the “one another” truths of Scripture, we would never have another divorce in Christian marriages. We would never have another wayward teen leave their family or their church. We would never have another church split in any biblical church. We would never have another Christian declare bankruptcy in order to avoid paying their debts because of financial misconduct of using their money for personal desires instead of paying their bills. Christians would be a far better witness and testimony to the world around them and, therefore, more people would probably be coming to Christ because they are seeing Jesus lived out in His follower’s lives. Sadly, when Christian’s do not follow the Scripture in living life and relating to others, all of these and many other bad things are the result and Satan gets the glory instead of God.
