I want to thank everyone who was part of the Vacation Bible School ministry this past week. I want to thank Sister Lisa Woodard and her leadership in organizing another successful year of VBS. I also want to thank all of the parents that allowed their children to come and/or brought them here to enjoy this blessed week of ministry. We had a wonderful staff of servants who served in the lives of the children that came to enjoy the VBS ministry of Summerville Baptist Church benefitting from the Scriptures. God allowed us to meet and minister to many children who were here at our church for the first time ever. I believe Jesus was pleased this week by children being welcomed into His church’s facilities to learn about Him and His greatness as the eternal God who became a baby to live a sinless life as a human so He could die on the cross as the sacrifice to cleanse the sins away of whosoever will call upon Him for forgiveness in faith. The Bible is very clear on God’s emphasis on valuing children and reaching them for His glory. If we want to be a biblical church. then we must continue obeying God’s will in ministering to children and seeking to reach them with the Gospel message, so they can benefit from it personally as they are able to understand it. I praise the Lord for every child that benefitted from every lesson taught from God’s Word, every verse that was memorized, every game that was played, every truth learned about God’s creation, every snack that was enjoyed, and every penny that was given to the Haven of Hope Children’s Home in Clovis, NM. I am thankful that the children in Summerville and other towns near here had the opportunity to benefit from VBS this summer just like they did over seventy years ago. It was seventy-two years ago when Verna Bazler and Nadine Jaeger came out to the farming community of Summerville to minister to children and VBS was one of the ministry efforts during that summer. That ministry was the beginning of what became Summerville Baptist Church and now all these years later we are still doing the same things in this place.
