“In Christ”

2Co 1:19  For the Son of God, Jesus Christ, who was preached among you by us, even by me and Silvanus and Timotheus, was not yea and nay, but in him was yea.

2Co 1:20  For all the promises of God in him are yea, and in him Amen, unto the glory of God by us.

2Co 1:21  Now he which stablisheth us with you in Christ, and hath anointed us, is God;

2Co 1:22  Who hath also sealed us, and given the earnest of the Spirit in our hearts.

I am thankful that God is still saving souls in His church here at Summerville and in biblical churches worldwide. God works through the faithful communication of His Word. The power of God unto Salvation is stated in His Word to be the proclaiming of the Gospel of Jesus Christ recorded for us in His Word. This week at teen camp, several decisions were made to enter into a relationship with God by faith in Christ as a result of the Holy Spirit working through the preaching of His Word. This coming week, we are praying for decisions to be made to enter into relationship with God by faith in Christ as Saviour at the Bible club outreach during the missions trip. Next Sunday night, we have one following the Lord in Believer’s Baptism because of being in Christ by faith in Him as personal Saviour after hearing the Word of God preached and God’s Spirit working in his heart. The phrase “in Christ” is recorded 77 times in the New Testament in the King James Bible. Paul used this phrase more than any other recorder of Scripture. It is used most often in Romans, I Corinthians, II Corinthians, and Ephesians; which is our current sermon series. In the Scripture above, we see that all the promises of God are only guaranteed to us humans in Christ. It also states that God’s glory by us is only possible in Christ. Being in Christ is how we enter into God’s family and receive all the promises of God including eternity with Him in His home in Heaven. The most important decision any person will ever make is to be in Christ after hearing the truth of the Gospel by God’s children unleashing the power of God’s Word through declaring His Word from their mouth to the ears of those who will hear. It is all made very clear in this one Scripture, but it is restated many other places in God’s Word as well. The question is not what God’s plan is, because He has stated it plainly in many places in His Word. The question is who will obey it and become part of it to His glory.
