In God’s Word, we can see the things that are near to the heart of God. From creation to eternity, we see God working His will out on earth through His creation by those He has created in His image and who have entered into eternal relationship with Him by faith in obedience to Him. We see that with God making a way for Adam and Eve to be forgiven and restore the relationship with Him that they had separated by their sinful choice. As they received His provision of forgiveness and restoration, they benefitted from His grace, mercy, and love for them. His offer was not determined by their response. Their benefit was experienced personally by their own choice. They would be responsible to God if they had chosen to reject His offering for their sin and remain in what they had provided for themselves in their own efforts, which were dying fig leaf aprons that were not going to last very long. As they continued to walk with God in their life, they were also raising their children under the influence of their faith. As their children became responsible unto the Lord personally, they had to make their own choice to walk with God in faith and obedience or try to do things a different way. Able offered the sacrifice for his sins that God had provided to his parents, but Cain chose to follow his parent’s original effort of trying to cover his sins his own way. God accepted Able and his obedient sacrifice, but Cain’s offering was not accepted by God. All through the Scriptures we see God working His will out on earth through those who choose to walk with Him by faith in what He says and obedience to His will. For us to be used of God in our lives personally and corporately as a church body, it is imperative that we walk with God by faith and in obedience. God wants everyone everywhere to hear of His love, mercy, and grace that He has provided for them through His Son and His sacrifice to pay the debt of our sins and His resurrection to give us victory over sin. This is God’s Mission for us today, just as He did thousands of years ago in the garden of Eden after Mankind had sinned against Him and His holiness. This was the same mission that Jesus was sent to do while He was here on earth accomplishing God’s final redemptive plan for mankind. This is what Jesus commissioned His followers to continue in as He returned back into Heaven and the Spirit of God was sent to indwell His followers to empower them to do His work and will on earth.
