True servants of God keep on serving with the Lord until they are no longer able. I have a dear preacher friend who I am highlighting in the Bible conference this year about establishing a legacy that continues. Bro. Greg Boyle has been a true and trusted friend since the first time we met. He is a big-name preacher that got asked to preach in so many places, but he always had time for those younger than him who served in many much smaller places; he never made you feel small or insignificant. Just this week I was struggling with a text and I thought to myself I ought text Bro. Boyle, but then realized I could no longer do that. He has a rare neurological condition that is literally making his brain shrink, and he is on hospice. Teri and I had plans to have dinner with them on our ministry trip the end of this month, and I had him scheduled to preach for the Bible conference in April. Bro. Boyle has continued being a faithful servant of the Lord until now when he cannot at all. Too often people talk of what they use to do for the Lord because they cannot talk about what they are doing with the Lord right now. I am blessed by servants of the Lord that are faithful to the Lord to do what they can do to honor their Heavenly Father and advance the cause of their Saviour here on earth. Recently, a faithful servant of the Lord felt it was necessary to step down from a ministry position due to their health, which is completely understandable. The Lord laid them on my heart for a different ministry that needed to be removed from someone else that has too many responsibilities, so I asked this other person to prayerfully consider this new opportunity that I felt the Lord laid them on my heart for because it might work for their new limitations. They prayed and sought the Lord for His will and was directed to accept the new ministry gladly. Faithfulness in ministry is a mark of a servant of God. They may not be doing exactly what they use to do, but they are still doing something in the work of the Lord. Paul was faithful to do what he could do, even from prison, until there was nothing more he could do. I have another preacher friend who is now unable to pastor or even preach, but he can pray and he does very often. He calls me regularly to ask me about different churches in the Pacific Northwest, because he knows I try to stay up to date with current situations. He will ask me about different churches and how they are doing, how he can pray for the pastors of our region, and he will ask about churches in need of a pastor to see if they have a pastor yet. I can count on him to call each month or so and get an update of the things he needs to be praying for and how he can pray for me. He is a true servant of the Lord. May we all be committed personally to be found faithful when the Lord returns. Faithful in our faith in the Lord and faithful in the service of our Saviour.
