Evil is Evil

This past week while we were holding a time of sharing Scripture and prayer on our cruise, I heard about the shooting of children at a Catholic school in Minneapolis. We spent time in prayer in that gathering for those who were shot, traumatized, and murdered in this evil act. Murder is evil. Hate is evil. Violating the value of others who are created in the image of God is evil. Rejecting God’s ordained plan for gender, sexuality, life, faith, and many other truths expressed by God in Scripture is evil. Romans 1 clearly addresses these matters, as we were reminded when we looked at it just a few weeks ago. When any of us continually violates God’s ordained plan and truth, we point ourselves into the direction of evil that can become very evil. When anyone violates God’s truths and expressed ordained will, they are hardening themselves toward God and His authority and are setting themselves in a direction towards evil that needs to be interrupted with compassion and truth. It is not hateful to warn someone about their choices that violate God’s Word and will. Sadly, we have laws that restrict professionals from helping people who are struggling with the matters of sinful choices. Sadly, we have political and religious and educational leaders who are willing to lie to people who are struggling with the issues of sin and encourage them to go further in the direction of evil. Whether it be witnessing to someone about Salvation or discipling your children in God’s truth about life or comforting someone about their sinful choices, the goal is the same- that is trying to turn people from the destruction that sin will bring. God has given us His Word to confront us with the destructive reality of living life separated from Him in our sinfulness. God sent His Son to the world to deliver humans from their self-destruction in their sin through His willing sacrifice to pay the debt of our sins on the cross. God gave us His grace, mercy, and love so we can benefit in our lives and so we can be protected from how far sin takes us into evil. God wants His children to lovingly share His truth with others so they choose to avoid the destruction that sin brings when any of us continue in our sinful choices in violation to the truth of God’s Word.
