As the Pastor of Summerville Baptist Church, I am thankful. I am so blessed to serve here at Summerville Baptist Church with each of you and with the team of leaders that the Lord has given to us here. While I was gone on our trip, several people asked me who was preaching while I was gone. Each time my response was that I was blessed with several men who are able to preach in my stead and I am thankful for each one that has covered messages each week in my absence. I am also thankful for wonderful ministry that continued on even in my absence. Many churches basically get nothing done while the pastor is gone and I am thankful that is not the case here. We had wonderful ministries with children take place while I was gone led by very excellent people doing very well in the work of the Lord. There were ministries to the youth, young adults, and senior adults that were very effective; I am very thankful for each person who made each of these events take place for everyone who took part. Pastor Wes and Sister Lisa had a wonderful youth activity on Friday night and I was blessed to see pictures and hear about how it went. I was also thankful to see pictures of the wall project and see the different men who met with Pastor Steve to work to make progress twice each week on the wall. I am thankful to see ministry continue when I am gone. I was also thankful to hear about a group of people who met to prepare the promotional paper for the Bible conference to be mailed out and I have been getting emails from preachers who are registering to take part in the conference this April. The Lord’s work in the Lord’s church should be done by the Lord’s people; therefore; it should continue on even when the pastor is gone. To my understanding, everything went just fine while I was gone, for which I am very thankful. The work of God should not be done by or dependent on any one person, and I am glad that was the case here while I was away taking a much-needed time away with family that we do not get to see very often. I am also thankful for this week as we remember the sacrifice of our Saviour for our sins, His victorious resurrection to give us forgiveness of our sins and also to provide for us His eternal life to enjoy now in relationship with Him here on earth and forever with Him in Heaven. We all have so much to be thankful for in the blessings of God on our lives and the people He blesses us with in our relationships.
