TEXT: PROVERBS 8:12-13
THE FEAR OF THE LORD IS TO HATE EVIL
The subject of the text is the Wisdom of God
>The benefit of God’s Wisdom opens many amazing discoveries with God
>The result of God’s Wisdom is to love what God loves and hate what God hates
- The accessibility of God’s wisdom for whosoever will vss. 1-11
The invitation to it is vocal for all to hear vs. 1
The invitation to it is public for all to hear vs. 2
The invitation to it is general for whosoever vss. 3-4
The invitation to it is easy enough for anyone vss. 5-9
The invitation to it is only to receive it not anything hard vss. 10-11
We must receive God’s Wisdom from His Word instead of settling for a lesser thing
We must receive God’s knowledge from His Word instead other things we value more
We must receive God’s Wisdom from His Word because it is better in the long term than immediate gain
We must receive God’s benefits from His Word because they are more helpful than anything else we possibly could desire for ourselves
- Gaining God’s wisdom will help us live for His glory vss. 12-13
- To hate what God hates is to live by His wisdom in the fear of the Lord
- God hates evil and the way to evil Proverbs 16:9
- God hates what Satan has been doing from the beginning Proverbs 6:16-19
>Satan’s pride and arrogancy caused him to rebel against God
>Satan’s lying and deception cause him to deceive other angels
>Satan’s wicked imagination caused him to lead a revolt against God
>Satan sowed discord among the angels and does among people

III. God blesses those who honor Him by living in His wisdom vss. 32-36
- He blesses all those who will obey Him 32
- He blesses all those who will truly hear Him 33-35
- He blesses all those who will love Him by living submitted to Him 36
- Not refuse it
- Not violate it to their own demise
- Not hate it
- Not reject the life of blessings it can bring to them
