The Genesis Road to Heaven

I. God’s perfect creation (Genesis 1-2)

  1. All was good in creation (III John 11)
  2. All was very good by the end of creation
  3. All was very honoring to God in creation
  4. All was life, peace, joy, and communion in creation with God

II. Man’s sinful corruption of creation (Genesis 3)

  1. Eve was deceived to sin (vv. 1-5; John 8:44, Revelation 12:9. II Corinthians 11:3-4, I Timothy 2:13-14)
  2. Adam chose to disobey (v. 6)
  3. Adam was our origination, source, and ancestor (vv. 7-9; Genesis 1:26-27, 2:4-9, 2:15-20, I Corinthians 15:21-22, I Timothy 2:13)
  4. Sin’s curse affected all of creation (vv. 14-19)
  1. Death came to all
  2. Disease came to all
  3. Deterioration came to all entropy, second law of thermodynamics
  4. Destruction came to all (Romans 5:12, 17-19)

III. God’s provision to cover man’s sin (Genesis. 3:21)

  1. Innocent sacrifice for the guilty sinner
  1. Substitute- taking the place of
  2. Vicarious- on behalf of another
  1. Death of the sacrifice to cover the curse of sin
  2. Shed blood of the sacrifice to cover the effects of sin

IV. God’s prophesied perfect sacrifice (Genesis 3:15)

  1. The seed of a woman no source in a mortal man (Galatians 4:4-5)
  2. The seed of the woman experiencing a bruised heel in a temporary suffering
  3. The seed of the woman bruising the head of the enemy of man permanently
  1. A permanent breaking of bondage of sin caused to man by Satan through the serpent
  2. A fatal blow to Satan’s control over sinner who will repent of their sins and trust in Christ

V. God’s promise to bless faith (Genesis 12)

  1. Believe His truth by faith (vv. 1-5; Romans 4:3, Galatians 3:6, James 2:23)
  2. Believe His provision by faith (v. 3)
  3. Believe His promise by faith (v. 7-9)
  1. A place to call home forever “Unto thy seed will I give this land”
  2. A place to worship God forever “there builded he an alter unto the Lord”
  3. A place in God’s family forever
  4. A place by believing and obeying His promise (I John 4:19, 9, Romans 5:8)
