TEXT: Psalm 4
I. Biblical worship is praying unto the Lord (v. 1)
- Because of His provision of His righteousness
- Because of His provision of His blessings already given to us
- Because of His provision of His mercy already shown to us
- D. Because of His provision of His invitation to call unto Him
II. Biblical worship is loving righteousness (vv. 2-3)
- Biblical worship cannot be offered in our sinful condition (v. 2; I Corinthians 2:10-16)
- Biblical worship can only be offered in the newness of Christ (v. 3; II Corinthians 5:14-17)
III. Biblical worship is communing with the Lord (v. 4)
- Standing in awe of Him
- Communing from our heart with Him
- Remaining still and quiet before Him
IV. Biblical worship is offering sacrifices to the Lord (v. 5)
- Righteous sacrifices
- Sacrifices offered in faith
V. Biblical worship is enjoying the presence of God (vv. 6-8)
- God’s face shining upon us (v. 6)
- God’s gladness within our heart (v. 7)
- God’s peace being in us. (Psalm 59:17; 61:7; 66:20; 69:13; 86:15; 98:3; 109:21, 26; 13:2; 136:2, 26; 52:8; 57:3; 51:1)
- Relaxing in His presence
- Resting in His provision
- Trusting in His protection
