“The Elements of Biblical Worship”   TEXT:  Psalm 86
I. Biblical worship is based on relationship (vv. 1-2)
A. A relationship of God meeting our need (v. 1)
B. A relationship based on the holiness of God (v. 2a)
C. A relationship based on faith in God as our Heavenly Father (v. 2b)
II. Biblical worship is about seeking the Lord more in your life (vv. 3-5)
A. Seeking His mercy in our lives (v. 3)
B. Seeking His joy in our hearts (v. 4)
C. Seeking His forgiveness of our sins (v. 5)
D. Seeking His help for our day (v. 5)
III. Biblical worship involves learning more about the greatness of God (vv. 9-13)
A. Learning to worship God willingly because He is worthy (v. 9)
B. Learning to honor the greatness of God alone (v. 10)
C. Learning to live life God’s way according to His Word (v. 11; Proverbs 14:12; 16:25; Psalm 128:1; 136:5; Proverbs 5:21; 16:2)
D. Learning to glorify God from our heart with praise (v. 12)
E. Learning to appreciate the mercy of God that provides salvation (v. 13)
IV. Biblical worship is benefitting from God more in my life (vv. 14-17)
A. Benefitting from God’s protection more (v. 14)
B. Benefitting from God’s goodness more (v. 15)
