I. Fasting is to help us pray for something specific (vv. 11-12)
A. It may be a difficulty facing you
B. It may be a miracle you need
C. It may be a direction you are seeking
II. Fasting is humbling ourselves before the Lord (v. 13)
A. Humbling ourselves physically before the Lord
B. Humbling ourselves spiritually before the Lord
C. Humbling ourselves prayerfully before the Lord
III. Fasting is praying sacrificially before the Lord (v. 14a)
A. Praying more often than usual
1. Making prayer more of a priority in your schedule
2. Making prayer more of a part of your schedule
3. Making prayer more of a purpose in your schedule
B. Praying at times you would do other things
C. Praying instead of doing other things
IV. Fasting is heaviness over a great need before the Lord (v. 14b)
A. Sickness to be healed
B. Burdens for ourselves or others to be lifted
C. Strongholds of sin in our lives or the lives of others to be broken
