1. Jesus requested His friends to pray with Him in His grief     Matthew 26:36-38
   1. All of His faithful disciples were in the garden with Him
   2. Three of His disciples were closer to Him in the garden
   3. He asked them to watch with Him in prayer in His grief
      1. Jesus expressed His burden to His closest friends
      2. Jesus requested their support as He prayed over His grief
      3. Jesus invited them to be with Him in His struggle in the garden
2. Jesus admonished them to watch & pray with Him    Matthew 26:39-42
   1. Watching involves alertness
   2. Watching helps us to stay awake
   3. Watching requires vigilance
   4. Watching & praying helps us to be faithful to the Lord
3. Jesus acknowledged the need of their body & of His future    Matthew 26:43-46
   1. Sometimes we just need to   sleep
   2. Sometimes we just have to journey alone
   3. Sometimes we just have to go forward together with the Lord
