TEXT: 1 PETER 4:12-19
Introduction:
I. Some things are not strange on earth for the child of God vv. 12-14
- God’s children suffering trials is not strange on earth v. 12
- God’s children rejoicing in identifying with Christ is not strange v. 13
- God’s children glorifying God in their living of life is not strange v. 14
II. There is no shame in suffering for God’s glory vv. 15-16
- God’s children should not suffer for doing wrong v. 15; I Thessalonians 4:1-12; II Thessalonians 3:6-13
- God’s children should not be ashamed of suffering for doing right v. 16a
- God’s children should glorify God in suffering as a Christian v. 16b; I Peter 2:18-21
III. This is our time for hard times vv. 17-19
- God’s children only suffer here on earth but not in eternity v. 17a
- God’s children begin their judgment now and it ends in eternity v. 17a
- God’s children have a better end in life and eternity than the unsaved v. 17b-18
- God’s children entrust their soul to their faithful Creator now eternally v. 19
