I. Renewal begins with God

II. Renewal begins within our inner being
A. A clean heart (v. 10a)
B. A right spirit (v. 10b)

III. Renewal begins with cleansing of sin (vv. 1-9)
A. Acknowledging it
1. My transgressions (vv. 1b, 3a)
2. Mine iniquity (v. 2a, 5a)

B. Owning it
1. Acknowledging the injury and damage caused (v. 4a “Against thee”)
