TEXT:  I John 2:15-17

I. Biblical love produces lasting loyalty (v. 15)
A. Love of this world produces allegiance to the things of the world (v. 16)
B. Love of God the Father produces steadfast faithfulness to God (v. 5)
C. Love for God the Father produces devotion to the family of God (v. 10)

II. God’s love in us calls us to love what God loves (v. 16)
A. The love of this world produces love for the things of this world (v. 15; Genesis 3:1- 6; Matthew 4:1-11)
B. The love of God produces love for the things of God
C. The love that is of this world produces the things we see in this world
1. The passions of our carnal flesh that are met in the ways of this world
2. The desires to have more of the temporal things that our eyes see
3. The longing of our self-focused vain glory to be pleased (Galatians 5:26)

III. The things of God are eternal & the things of Satan are temporal (v. 17)
A. Satan is not a creator, but he is a corrupter of what God creates
B. Satan is the god of this world, but God is Lord over all of eternity
C. God is eternal and He alone can give us eternal life in peace with Him
