AM: “God is Not Confused, Nor Does He Want Us to Be”

TEXT:  GENESIS 1:26-31

  1. God is not confused about who He is     Genesis 1:26-27
    1. God presents Himself as He is
    2. God declares Himself to be the “I AM”     Genesis 15:1;  Exodus 3:14;  John 10:7, 9, 10, 11, 14, 36;  18:4-8
    3. God defines Himself as the LORD     Genesis 15:7;  28:13;  Exodus 6:2;  Psalm 81:10;  Isaiah 42:8;  43:3, 15;  44:5, 24;  45:5, 6, 18;  48 ;17;  49 ;23; 51 ;15;  Malachi 3:6
  2. God created us to be like Him     Genesis 1:26-27
    1. God created us to know ourselves for who we are:  scientifically, personally, spiritually
    2. God created us to know one another
      1. Personally
      2. Relationally
      3. Intimately
    3. God created us to know Him
  3. God does not want us to be confused     Genesis 1:28-31
    1. About Him;  ourselves;  His purpose for us
      1. To love Him     Joshua 22:5
      2. To obey Him    Ecclesiastes 12:13-14
      3. To honor Him  I Corinthians 10:31
      4. To serve Him   Deuteronomy 11:13, 22
      5. To enjoy Him   Psalm 16:1
