I. The Foundation of love declared in God’s Word (v. 20a)

1. The foundation the apostles recorded in the New Testament
2. The foundation the prophets proclaimed in the Old Testament
3. The foundation that is sure that we can build our lives upon

II. The Foundation of love displayed in God’s Son (v. 20b)

1. Displayed in Jesus leaving Heaven to come to earth
2. Displayed by Jesus while He ministered on earth
3. Displayed through Jesus as He died for our sins
4. Displayed by those who have received it from Him

III. The Foundation of love developed in God’s church (vv. 21-22)

1. Being in Christ first of all (vv. 21 & 22)
2. Being together in His church (v. 21)
3. Being built together as God’s habitation (v. 22)
