Is It Still Well?

As we go through life, we like to think that all is well. It truly may be on a physical level. We have a good job, we are retired and doing well financially, we have plenty of food and are fairly comfortable. But what happens when our world seems to get turned upside down? Is it still well? Horatio Spafford wrote the hymn, “It Is Well With My Soul” after losing his four daughters in the sinking of the S.S. Villegas Du Havre. Job lost seven son and three daughters and all that he had as far as earthly value. Job1:20-22 [20] “Then Job arose, and rent his mantle, and shaved his head, and fell down upon the ground, and worshipped, [21] and said, Naked came I out of my mother’s womb, and naked shall I return thither: the LORD gave, and the LORD hath taken away; blessed be the name of the LORD. [22] In all this Job sinned not, nor charged God foolishly.” We must be born again. We must trust in the Lord with all our heart. We must believe the Lord. Many will be deceived. Let that not be you and I. May we truly say, “It is well with my soul.”
