This week is a monumental election for our communities, our states, and our nation. As our world and our society become more depraved and wicked, each election will continue to be more consequential until the Lord returns. With the increase of Socialists and Islamists running for public office on every level of government, the threats to our Democratic Republic form of government are increasing. With less and less godly people running for public office and the numbers of godless people increasingly casting votes, our form of government is becoming less effective, as President John Adams prophesied to take place over two hundred years ago. God’s people need to vote! They also need to be willing to serve in government positions of leadership. They need to be engaged in the political stage in our society. But most of all, God’s people need to pray and proclaim the Gospel. The power of God and the redemption of lost souls is the only hope for our nation, for France, for Europe, for every Islamic nation, and for every person around the world. Our hope must be in the Lord and not in our politics. For our hope to truly be in the Lord, we must know Him accurately through His Word. For us to be effective in sharing truth with others, we must become more familiar with the truth of God’s Word. We need to be familiar with the truth of Scripture and how it applies to the issues of our day. The ideals of socialist government or communism are not supported in Scripture. But the qualities of working hard, being creative, and achieving personal successes with God’s blessings are found in Scripture. The ideas of depending on the government for your sustenance is not found is Scripture, but the truth of trusting God is found in Scripture. The philosophies and religions of man exalt man, but the eternal truths of Scripture and the faith of eternal life exalt God. The problems that plague our societies worldwide are all addressed and condemned in God’s Word. The solutions to each of those problems are also clearly defined in Scripture and will work if they are applied with the help of the Holy Spirit. This week I shared Romans 13:13-14 at the Imbler Prayer & Pizza. Verse 13 declares many of the sinful behaviors at the root of much of the trouble in our world today. Verse 14 gives the solution to the problem. We who have put on the Lord Jesus Christ for Salvation need to make no provision for our flesh that will lead us in the destruction of lust, while at the same time we need share the truth of Salvation in Christ so others can put Him on in their life as well by trusting Him as their Saviour. Let us all seek to be part of the solution to the troubles in our world and not part of the problem. Let God be glorified in His children.
