Today, we celebrate those who sacrifice to serve in our protection. We are thankful for their willingness to serve and honor them for the sacrifices they make on our behalf. As we recognize our first responders here today, we also remember the ultimate in their service to our nation whom we remembered this past week as well. This past Friday was the 25th remembrance of the attack on our nation by evil men who hate our nation. The attacks on the World Trade Center Towers and Pentagon were a sad day in our nation’s history that should never be forgotten by the citizens of our nation. Hundreds of first responders and thousands of civilians lost their lives on that day because of people who hate America and exploited our freedoms for their own wicked purposes. Today, we have many people who still hate our nation and are still using our freedoms to their wicked purposes and we must not ignore the threat to our nation and let evil succeed to attack us again. I am grateful for each and every faithful citizen who is willing to put their life in danger for the benefit of their fellow man in service and sacrifice. We need to respect them, honor them, and support them for the sacrifices they are willing to make to serve and protect us who enjoy living in our communities. Another sad remembrance this past week was on Thursday and that was the assassination of Turning Point USA founder Charlie Kirk. Charlie Kirk was shot and killed as he was on the campus of Utah Valley University in Orem, UT, holding an event to help educate college students on the issues of our day and debate those who hold opposing views. He was a promoter of healthy debate and information sharing not violence and hate. Evil people prefer violence over conversations and promote death over dialog and the exchange of information. His death did not squash his influence on the youth of our nation and it has not silenced the voice of truth being spoken on campuses of schools around our nation. For the good of our future, we need more brave citizens who will be willing to serve to aid and protect their fellow man in our communities as first responders. We also need more young people who will step up to be a voice of truth and reason to their peers and the youth of our communities.
