Veterans Day, a national holiday in the United States, honors all military veterans and those who died in the country’s wars. Veterans Day originally began in 1919 as Armistice Day to commemorate the first anniversary of the armistice that ended World War I on November 11, 1918. This first Armistice Day was characterized by parades, public meetings, and a brief business suspension beginning at 11 AM.
Veterans Day is a day of remembrance, celebration, and reflection on the contributions and sacrifices of those who served in the U.S. armed forces. We need to also remember that God has called his children to be good soldiers of Jesus Christ in 2 Timothy 2:3, “Thou therefore endure hardness, as a good soldier of Jesus Christ.”
So, thank our veterans for their service and get involved in God’s service.
