WED: “Why Do You Witness”

TEXT:   Colossians 1:9-14

Introduction: Colossians 1:9-14
We have been saved by faith (vv. 12-14)
We need to grow in our faith (vv. 10b-11)
So we can please the Lord in fruitfulness (v. 10a)
So we can know God more personally (v. 10b)
So we can be filled with God’s strength and joy (v. 11)
Because we have been delivered by His redemption (vv. 12-14)
-We need to give thanks to God for His redemption
-We need to give thanks to God for making it possible for us to be right with Him
-We need to give thanks to God for delivering us from darkness into light
-We need to give thanks to Jesus for His shed blood for our forgiveness of sins
It is the calling that we are to walk worthy of (Ephesians 4:1)
God is worthy of our witness of Him to others (I Thessalonians 2:9-13)
I. Our Lord commanded us to (Matthew 28:16-20)
A. He commanded us as our Saviour and Lord
B. He commanded us to go to the lost with the gospel
C. He commanded us to communicate the gospel to the lost
D. He commanded us to disciple those who believe the gospel to grow
II. The people in hell desire us to (Luke 16:22-31)
A. We all have one life to live on earth (v. 22)
B. We all only have two possible eternal destinies (vv. 23-26)
C. We all need to receive the gospel by faith to go to Heaven (vv. 27-31)
III. God is worthy to receive glory from others (Revelation 7:9-17)
A. The glory of their presence in Heaven by faith in Him (Revelation 7:9-15)
B. The glory of our obedience in being a witness (Revelation 4:11)
C. The glory of their faith in Him as their Saviour (Psalm 18:1-6)
D. The glory of their worship to Him glorifying Him (Psalm 29:1-2, 96:7-8)
