TEXT: Isaiah 11:1-10
I. Messiah is prophesied to come (v. 1)
A. An offspring from Jesse (Isaiah 53:2)
B. A Branch from the root
C. New growth from the root not the tree (Luke 2:23-32; Acts. 13:22-23; Romans 15:12)
II. Messiah is prophesied as being with the spirit of the Lord (vv. 2-4)
A. The spirit of the Lord being upon Messiah (v. 2a) (John 1:32-33)
B. Messiah would be of divine wisdom (v. 2b) (Luke 2:40, 52; Isaiah 9:6)
C. Jesus had understanding beyond His years (v. 3) (Luke 2:46-47)
D. Messiah would have two distinct comings (v. 4)
1. First as a sacrificial Lamb, meek and lowly upon a donkey
2. Second as a Lion reigning Judge and King of peace ruling on earth in power
III. Messiah is prophesied to be the provider of peace on earth (vv. 5-10)
A. First peace in hearts (v. 5)
B. Then peace for eternity (v. 10)
C. Lastly peace on earth (vv. 6-9)
