WED: “The Holy Spirit Helps Us Fulfill God’s Will on Earth”

TEXT:  Isaiah 61:1-11

I. God’s Spirit helps God’s servant do God’s will (vv. 1-7)
A. Jesus was the servant of the Lord (Isaiah 52:13-53:12; John 1:29-34)
B. Jesus declared Himself to be the fulfillment of this prophecy (Luke 4:14-21)
1. Jesus was identified by the Spirit of God
2. Jesus did the work of God
3. Jesus proclaimed the Word of God
4. Jesus will be the judge of God for all men
C. God’s children today need God’s Spirit to serve God in His will (Acts 1:6-8)
1. God wants His children to preach His good tidings
2. God wants His children to proclaim liberty to the captives to make them free
3. God wants His children to proclaim God’s plan of redemption (vv. 1-2)
4. God wants people to benefit from being new in His Spirit in Salvation (vv. 3-4)

II. God wants to use us in His work on earth to His glory (vv. 6-9)
A. As a priesthood of believers to bring people to God (v. 8; I Peter 2:2-11)
B. As ministers of God to represent Him in ministry to others on earth (v. 8; I Corinthians 4:1-2; II Corinthians 5:17-21; 6:1-11)
C. As the blessed of God to be a blessing to those around us (vv. 7-9)

III. God wants us to be blessed in eternity with Him (vv. 10-11)
A. Be blessed with joyfulness with the blessings of God in my life (v. 10a)
B. Be blessed because of the Salvation He provided that I received (v. 10b)
C. Be blessed as part of His eternal plan in Heaven and earth (vv. 10c-11)
