Moses is described as the servant of the Lord many times. (Deuteronomy 34:5; Joshua 1:1, 13; 8:31, 33; 11:12; 12:6; 13:8; 14:7; 18:7; 22:2, 4, 5; II Kings 18:12; II Chronicles 1:3, 24:6)
Joshua was called the servant of the Lord. (Joshua 24:29; Judges 2:8)
David was identified as the servant of the Lord. (Psalm 18:1; 36:1)
Pastors are stated to be the servant of the Lord. (II Timothy 2:24)
James used the term servant of God for himself. (James 1:1)
-Being a carnal Christian does not help us to become the servant of the Lord.
-Being an immature believer does not enable us to be the servant of the Lord.

II. We are God’s ambassadors to proclaim His message (vv. 8-9)
A. We have been commissioned by our Saviour (Matthew 28:18-20; John 20:21; II Corinthians 5:17-21)
B. We have been commanded by our Lord (Ephesians 6:20)
C. We have been called to glorify our God in all we do (I Corinthians 10:31; Colossians 3:23-24)

III. We are God’s servants to serve in His work (vv. 9-14)
A. We are to serve with God in His work on earth (v. 9; James 1:1; I Chron. 6:49; II Chron. 24:9)
B. We are to serve by building on the foundation of faith (vv. 10-12; Titus 1:1; Neh. 10:28; Dan. 9:11)
C. We are to serve and build preparing for our accountability (vv. 13-23; Revelation 15:3
