TEXT:  MATTHEW 6:19-24

INTRODUCTION:  “Lay up for yourselves”,  “Lay not up for yourselves”     ~     Contradiction or Contrast?

  1. Where ae your resources being invested?     Matthew 6:19-20
    1. We must use some of our resources for living life     I Timothy 5:8; 6:6-9
    2. We must save some of our resources for the future     Psalm 112:1-9; Proverbs 15:6; 21:20; 13:22;  II Corinthians 12:14-15;  Proverbs 19:13-15
    3. We must never spend all of our resources here on earth
      1. Don’t consume all of your income in just living for today
      2. Don’t hoard all of your income for your own temporal existence     James 5:1-3;  Proverbs 15:16-17; 16:8;  Ecclesiastes 4:6
      3. Invest much of your income in eternity & eternal things for God’s glory
  2. Where are your desires being invested?     Matthew 6:21-23
    1. What you desire in life you will make room for
    2. What you desire in life you will focus your life on
    3. The desire of your heart is what all of life is made of     Proverbs 4:23-27
  3. Where is your life being invested?    Matthew 6:24-34
    1. Serving requires your energy & time
    2. Worrying requires your energy & time
    3. Seeking requires your energy & time
