Text: John 12:12-22    –    The Triumphal Entry

• Introduction:  The final days of Christ before His crucifixion and resurrrection
  • John 11:1-46  –  Jesus going to Bethany to bring Lazarus back to life (6 days before Passover)
  • John 11:47-57  –  Jesus returning to Bethany for the final time before His death

1. God offered His love to mankind through His Son
   1. God sent His Son to earth because of His love for mankind     John 3:16-18
   2. God loved mankind so much that He did not spare His own Son     Romans 8:31 – 39; Romans 8:1
   3. God loved us so much that He made it possible for us to be born into His family     John 3:1-7; I john 3:1-3; I John 5:2
   4. God showed His love for mankind by sending His only begotten Son, Jesus     I John 4:9-11
2. Christ offered His love to mankind through His willingness
   1. His willingness to leave heaven and come to earth     John 3:13-14
   2. His willingness to set aside His Glory to come in human form     John 17:3-5; Philippians 2:5-8
   3. His willingness to come to Jerusalem knowing it would cost Him His life     Matthew 26:1-5
   4. His willingness to be obedient unto the cross of sacrifice for us     John 10:17-18; Philippians 2:5-8
3. His love is offered to everyone freely     John 12:12-19
   1. Jesus entered Jerusalem openly for all to see
   2. Jesus made Himself available to all who came to Him
   3. Jesus made Himself available to all who are in the world     Zechariah 9:9;  John 6:37

• Application:
  • God is not obligated to meet my expectations
  • I am obligated to meet God’s expectations
  • Come to Him by faith – He is our Saviour
