TEXT:  I Timothy 3:8-13

I. Servants of God are to be sober in life and character (vv. 8-10)
A. In attitudes (Philippians 4:8; Titus 2:2; I Timothy 3:8, 11)
B. In words
C. In influences
D. In finances
E. In conscience
F. In service
G. In innocence

II. Servants of God are to be examples and exemplary (vv. 11-12)
A. They are to be a man who is an example to the church in living the Christian life
B. They are to be a woman who is an example of being a godly lady
C. They are to have a marriage that is an example of a biblical marriage
D. They are to have a home life that is an example of honoring God at home
1. Governing their own life well
2. Governing their children well
3. Governing their household well

III. Servants of God are to be respected and respectable (v. 13)
A. It is an office that should be utilized with respect
B. It is a respectable way to spend your time and energy
C. It is a position that should be viewed as respectful of faith in Christ
