AM: “TO CONTINUE WE MUST BEGIN”

TEXT:  II Timothy 3:10-17

I. We must continue in faith by beginning in Christ (v. 10)
A. Paul experienced the doctrine of Soteriology
B. Paul lived out the doctrine of Pneumatology
C. Paul taught and lived the doctrine of Biblical Christian faith in daily life

II. We must continue in patience by beginning in faithfulness (v. 11)
A. Paul started in faith and grew into faithfulness
B. Paul’s commitment to following Christ enabled him to be faithful to Christ
C. Paul’s faithfulness to the Lord helped him be faithful in suffering with the Lord
D. Paul’s dependency on God’s faithful to him helped him be faithful to God

III. We must continue in persecution by beginning in living godly (v. 12)
A. Living life God’s way means living life contrary to the world
B. Living life God’s way means living differently than many religious people
C. Living life God’s way means expecting some negative responses (John 15:18-27; 16:31-32)

IV. We must continue in truth by beginning in truth not deception (v. 13)
A. Knowing God’s truth is essential to true faith in Christ (John 8:31-38; 17:3, 17; 5:10-13)
B. Growing in knowing God’s truth more is essential to being faithful to Christ
C. Understanding God’s truth more is essential to not becoming deceived
