TEXT:  1 THESSALONIANS 1:1-10

Paul commended the Thessalonians and encouraged them to continue being:

1. To be workers of faith  – verse 3
2. They received the Word in much affliction with joy – verse 6.  1 Thess 2:13; Psalm 119:11
3. To be examples – verse 7 – “do all to the glory of God”
4. To “sound out” the Word of God – tell people about Him – verse 8
5. Turn from idols & turn to the One True God – be separated people – verse 9
   1. To hear the great commendation:  ‘Well done, good & faithful servant’
6. Expectancy – waiting for the Lord to come – verse 10;  1 John 3:1-3
