Text: Proverbs 2:1-11
- Introduction:
- Being in the condition of “satisfied” is dependent on living in “the fear of the Lord”
- This phrase is used 27 times in the King James Bible and additionally in similar phrases I Samuel 11:7; II Chronicles 14:14; 17:10; 19:7,9; Job 28:28; Psalm 19:9; 34:11; 111:10; Proverbs 1:7, 29; 2:5; 8:13; 9:10; 10:27; 14:26-27; 15:16, 33; 16:6; 22:4; 23:17; Isaiah 11:2-3; 33:6; Acts 9:31
- Proverbs 2:5 “Then shalt thou understand the fear of the Lord.”
- The fear of the Lord begins with a personal relationship with God Proverbs 2:1
- It is only available to the children of god
- It is only available from God to His children
- It is only available to God’s children by God’s means
- The fear of the Lord requires God’s Word getting into you Proverbs 2:1-6
- This is a conditional promise (if)
- God’s Word must be received personally (thou)
- By listening on purpose
- By applying it to your own heart personally
- By asking the Lord for help from it
- By digging into it with desire
- God’s Word should be memorized
- God’s Word offers God’s assistance Proverbs 2:6-8
- Assistance with God’s wisdom
- Assistance with God’s protection
- Assistance with God’s guidance
- The result of life lived God’s Way: Proverbs 2:9-11
- Life lived God’s way
- Then you can have His understanding of truth from His wisdom
- Living life well to God’s glory in preparation of eternity
- Living from your heart filled with God’s wisdom to direct you
- Living from His knowledge being positive in your life
- Living from the benefit of His wisdom guiding you to live well
- Living with the benefit of His blessings due to living His way.
