Text:  Matthew 11:25-30

Introduction:  The context

1. This is an invitation to relationship
   1. An invitation to come to Jesus
   2. An invitation to join with Jesus                      II Corinthians 6:14;   Proverbs 1:10-15
   3. It is an invitation to be a learner of Jesus     Matthew 10:24;  II Peter 3:18
2. This invitation is about knowing one another
   1. Knowing more about each other by presence     John 15:1-11
   2. Getting to know others personally
   3. Making yourself known to others                          Matthew 11:29
3. It is an invitation that requires a response
   1. Relationship works this way
   2. Relationship must be made available
   3. Relationship needs to be mutually fulfilling
   4. The result of relationship is not the cause of it

• Conclusion:
• Motive is why I do what I do                                         cause        =        produces the action
• Purpose is what I hope to accomplish in doing it     effect        =        goal to be achieved
• Right motive produces right action which causes the right result
• Right purpose effects right goal which results in the right effect
• Jesus wants to lighten our burdens
