“Let the Lord Build” January 14, 2024 TEXT: Matthew 16:13-20
I. God always fulfills His Word — “I will build my church”
A. He completed establishing His church
1. By being the foundation for it to be built upon (I Corinthians 3:10-13)
2. By fulfilling the Old Testament for those who will trust in Him (Matthew 5:17-20)
3. By instituting the New Testament in His death, burial, and resurrection (Matthew 26:28; Mark 14:24; Luke 22:20; I Corinthians 11:25; Hebrews 9:15)
B. He is currently still building His churches here on this earth (Ephesians 2:18-22; Jude 17-23)
C. He always finishes what He starts
II. God wants to build your life to His glory
A. Salvation is the foundation of Him building your life to His glory
1. Hearing the truth of His Word
2. Agreeing with the truth of His Word
3. Repenting of my sinfulness
4. Receiving His salvation offered (John 1:11-14)
B. Sanctification is the process of Him building your life to His glory
C. Glorification is the finishing of Him building
III. Jesus wants to use our life to build His church
A. He builds His church with people being saved and baptized
B. He builds His church with growing believers in spiritual maturity
1. He will grow all those who make themselves available (I Peter 2:1-6; II Peter 3:15-18)
2. He will mature all those who study to approve themselves (II Tim. 2:14-16)
3. He will use whoever is usable to build His church (II Timothy 2:16-22)
C. He builds in and with those who are yielded unto Him (II Chronicles 30:8; Romans 6:11-18)
