AM: “‘I AM’ IS RECEIVED SPIRITUALLY, NOT PHYSICALLY”

TEXT:  JOHN 6:52-64

  1. Jesus was often misunderstood when speaking truth     John 6:52-58
    1. The Jews were thinking of cannibalism
    2. Jesus was taking about Spiritually being in Him
    3. Jesus clearly states that He is not talking about physical bread     Ephesians 3:16; Romans 7:22;  2 Corinthians 4:16
  2. Jesus proclaimed God’s message  no matter what       John 6:59-62
    1. No matter where He was
    2. No matter how people responded
    3. No matter if they misunderstood     John 3:13; 16:28; 17:4-5; Mark 16:19
  3. Jesus was clearly speaking Spiritually, not Physically.   John 6:63-64
    1. The Spirit of God makes us alive in Christ, not eating food.  Romans 8:2; 1 Corinthians 15:45; Galatians 5:25
    2. The Word of God produces faith in Christ, not drinking juice.  Psalm 119:50, 93; Romans 10:8-10; 1 Thessalonians 2:13; Hebrews 4:12; James 1:18; 1 Peter 1:23
    3. The Faith in Jesus Christ alone gives us Eternal life, not the eucharist
      1. Many Jews trusted in Christ as Messiah, but most did not and still don’t
      2. Many followers fully trusted in Christ as Saviour, but many did not
      3. Most of Jesus’ disciples were true believers in Him, but some were not
