God Will Continue Building – December 29, 2024
TEXT: Acts 20:17-38
Introduction: Acts 20:17-23
I. Paul desired to finish the building of his life well (Acts 20:24)
A. Not letting hinderances get him off course from honoring God
B. Not letting his life get in God’s way of accomplishing His will through him
C. Not letting his own will and desires keep him from fulfilling God’s will for his life
II. Paul had Jesus as his example of finishing His life well [John 17:1-5(4)]
A. Jesus glorified the Father by obeying His will
B. Jesus finished the will of the Father for Him
C. Jesus completed the work God the Father gave Him to accomplish
III. Paul did finish building his life well for God’s glory (II Timothy 4:6-8)
A. He was ready to depart life because he had finished building his life well
B. He had accomplished what God had designed him and saved him to do in life
C. He had been faithful to the Lord in his life by glorifying God
1. He knew he was going to eternity in Heaven
2. He knew he was going to be blessed in Heaven
3. He knew he was going to see others in Heaven
IV. We need to finish building our lives well while we are here on earth (Acts 20:25-38)
A. Build by being a faithful witness of the Gospel to the lost (vv. 25-27)
B. Build by being a devourer and sharer of God’s Word (v. 26)
C. Build by being a protector of God’s flock (vv. 29-31)
D. Build by being a communicator of God’s truth (v. 32)
E. Build by being a faithful steward of God’s blessings in your life (v. 33)
F. Build by being a hard worker not a lazy person (v. 34)
G. Build by being a giver not a taker (v. 35)
H. Build by emphasizing prayer in your life (v. 36)
I. Build to be loved by all who know you (v. 37)
J. Build to be missed not glad to see you go (v. 38)
