TEXT: II Timothy 1:6-14
Introduction: “Wherefore” (v. 5)
*Because of the faith Paul was confident was in Timothy
*Because of the faith that was exemplified before Timothy growing up
*Because of the faith of the genuine faith that Timothy had displayed in his life
I. We need to use our God given gifts for His glory (v. 6)
A. We need to remember God has a purpose for our life (Psalm 90:12; 39:4; James 4:14-15; I Peter 1:23-25)
B. We need to remember God has gifted us all for a purpose
C. We need to remember God wants us to exercise our gifts for good
II. God gives His children His Spirit to give them confidence (vv. 7-8)
A. God does not want His children to live in the bondage of fear (v. 7a)
B. God’s will for His children is to live in confidence with Him (v. 7b; Ephesians 1:19; 6:10-13; Philippians 4:13; II Timothy 4:17)
C. God does not want His children to be ashamed of what is right (v. 8)
III. God has provided Salvation by Himself for whosoever (vv. 9-14)
A. God planned to provide Salvation through His Son before creation (v. 9)
B. God sent His Son to earth to win our victory over sin (v. 10; John 3:16)
C. God desires His children to proclaim His Salvation through His Son (vv. 11-14)
Action Points:
*Are you exercising the gifts God has given to you for His glory in your life?
*Are you benefitting from the courage the Holy Spirit provides in God’s children?
*Have you received the Salvation God has provided through Jesus Christ?
