AM: “BEHOLD YOUR GOD – The Coming Messiah”

TEXT:  ISAIAH 40:1-31

  1. A New Message. Isaiah 40: 1-5
    1. Speak comfort
    2. Prepare the way for the LORD’s coming
    3. God’s Glory will be revealed
  2. Mankind is weak, but God is strong. Isaiah 40:6-8;  James 1:10; 1 Peter 1:24
    1. Our lives are short, just like the grass.  James 1:11
    2. Our goodliness is like a flower in a field
    3. Our lives may be fleeting & weak
    4. God’s Word is forever.  1 Peter 1:25
  3. Behold Good Tidings!  Isaiah 40:9
    1. A joyous proclamation
    2. A resounding proclamation.  Psalm 66:1-2
    3. A courageous proclamation.  Philippians 4:13; 1 Corinthians 16:13
  4. Behold your God!  Isaiah 40:10-16
    1. He comes with strength
    2. He comes as a Shepherd.  John 10:11, 14-16
    3. He comes with all knowledge of the earth
    4. He comes by His own counsel.  Romans 11:34; 1 Corinthians 2:16
    5. He counts the nations as nothing compared to Him.  Daniel 4:35
  5. He cannot be compared to any other.  Isaiah 40:18-27;  Acts 17:29
    1. He is not an idol.  Deuteronomy 4:25
    2. He is proclaimed even by the heavens.  Psalm 19:1; Acts 14:17
    3. He makes royalty & judges as nothing
    4. He created everything.
  6. Our God is a mighty God!  Isaiah 40:28-31
    1. God is the Creator of all that is.
    2. God gives power to the weak
    3. God delivers those who wait on Him – in His time!
