Faithfulness in Thankfulness

God is always faithful. The children of God should strive to maintain that family trait of our Heavenly Father. God’s people ought to be the most thankful people in the world. We should be thankful first of all to God for His Salvation and for all that we are promised in our relationship with Him. When we maintain an attitude of gratitude before God, it will help us to be more expressively thankful to others as well. When we pray, we should give thanks to God for what He has given us before asking for what we need from Him. When we sit to eat, we should always give thanks to God for His provision of the food we are about to eat. When we worship, we should be giving praise to God and thanksgiving for His provision to use us spiritually, physically, materially, emotionally, socially, and mentally. Thankfulness is a personal character quality that needs to be developed in ourselves and in our influence on others. If we neglect the discipline of expressing our thanks, we will inevitably become less thankful and less gracious. Our current societal mentality of entitlement is very destructive to an attitude of gratitude. When we expect to be given everything, we are thankful for nothing. When we learn to earn what we have, we appreciate it more when we have gained it. Thanksgiving is more than a holiday; it should be a way of life for the child of God. It will become our mindset if we are led of the Spirit daily in the truth of God’s Word to help us reflect the image of God that we were created in and redeemed to reflect. The holiday of Thanksgiving was established to help Americans realize the goodness of God in our lives to help us be better citizens and more grateful for the blessings we have been given. This year be intentional and purposeful in making your Thanksgiving more worshipful to the glory of God and the good of everyone you are with. This is the purpose of our Thanksgiving Praise Service on Tuesday evening at 7PM; it will help us all get started well in our Thanksgiving celebrations.
