God is good! We see the goodness of God extended to us in so many ways. God’s goodness is extended to us in His creation. Everyone gains benefit from the creation. No matter who they are and no matter what they have done, everyone enjoys the goodness of God in His creation. In Matthew 5:45, Jesus declared that God makes “his sun rise on the evil and the good, and sendeth rain on the just and the unjust.” Every person on the face of the earth benefits from the oxygen they breath provided to them by God through the processes He established in His creation. The food that God provides in His creation is a benefit to everyone who is willing to benefit from it. Anyone can go fishing or hunting or even work a garden in order to enjoy the harvest of their labor from the creation of God that He has provided to them. Even in our physical body, there are hundreds of systems that are established and ordained of God in how He created us, each one working for our benefit. Far too often, we fail to thank God for the health He has given to us in the “fearfully and wonderfully” way He has created us, but we are quick to either seek Him or complain to Him when they don’t work the way He designed them to for our good. God’s goodness to us physically is all around us even in this fallen earth. But the goodness of God is also given to us spiritually, as well, in so many different ways. God has recorded His Word to man and He has preserved His Word, so it can be translated in the various languages on the earth in order for people to know God accurately and personally if they so choose. This is why investing in Bible translation ministries is so important. God also sent His Son to this earth to provide for the forgiveness of our sins to whosoever will trust in Him. God would have been just in not giving us His Word when we sinned against Him, but chose to be good to us even in our sin to make Himself known to us in His Word. God would have been just to not send His Son and merely let us continue in our sin, but He chose to be good in providing to us a perfect, sinless sacrifice for our sins to be cleansed away, so we could have a right relationship with Him who is Holy, completely separated from sin through his holiness. God would have been just and good to stop there and let us do the best we can on our own through His Son and His Word, but He extended His goodness even further in establishing His church on earth and giving His Spirit to abide within the believer to help us enjoy our relationship with Him in an even greater way. God’s goodness is everywhere we turn; if we will open our eyes and acknowledge it, we will be compelled to express thanks unto Him.
